Ann Corcoran: The SMI Policy Driver

Ann Corcoran is the Executive Director of the National Shattering Silence Coalition (NSSC) and serves as the FFL Policy & Strategy Pillar for Serious Mental Illness (SMI). Her three decades of experience in clinical healthcare, primarily as an oncology nurse, give her a profound understanding of system gaps and the necessity of compassionate, evidence-based care.

Driven by the lack of adequate treatment for serious brain illnesses in her home state, Ann became a passionate advocate, viewing the marginalization of those with SMI as a critical injustice. She joined NSSC with the mission of improving the lives of individuals living with no-fault brain disorders, ensuring they can achieve happy and fulfilling lives.

Ann's leadership is integral to FFL's mission:

• Strategic Alignment: As Executive Director of NSSC, she ensures FFL's Upstream Mandate and its PACT/SURE Engine are clinically sound, politically sophisticated, and specifically tailored to address the unique needs and policy concerns of the SMI population.
• Policy Expertise: Ann actively advises the AOTNOW organization and serves on multiple family advisory councils at the state level. She is a dedicated advocate for Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) legislation, pushing for structural changes that provide adequate care.

As an advisor for FFL, she is focused on amplifying the voices of families, caregivers, peers, and professionals to create a more just and compassionate world for those living with SMI.
